leslie was born in the place she wants to die
grey skies only mean cooler weather
keeps her food separated on her plate
spain was fine but mississippi's finer
found a good ole boy to make her smile
never questions the love of the father
she shines, is it ignorance or grace?
or just her simple desire?
if a fool says it's gold then it's gold.
it still shines, it even glitters
oh to love what you didn't have to find
every day's the same
it just keeps getting better
golden seas lapping at her knees
she dreams of a muddy old river
could she dream where horizons meet the greys converge
the greys go on forever?
a fool's a fool if he can't see
gold's a rock some man told him to treasure
i tried to change my heart
but it dies when it can't wander
oh to love what you didn't have to find
to be awake without hunger
born in a rock adored
nestled in pressure
manners and beauty forced
precious and sought after
leslie was born in the place she wants to die
aint boastin or braggin neither
family plots down the road nearby
settle in to the here on after

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer

The perfect album for the summer, you can just feel the hot days, being right there having the time of your life with your friends and the nights of introspection. ed_2099
